......new guy. I just found this site and it is just what I'm looking for. I've got an 03 xpdi that just enjoyed its last stock season. I'm looking for a few good ideas to get it out of the hole, stay hooked up in a chop, a slide a little more in a turn. Any help would be welcomed.8-)

:) Welcome BP.

I hear sponsons really help the XPL in the handling department.

Make sure to record all the cursing you do on the install for entertainment purposes.

OK, with the XPDi you only have basically one route to go with the motor.

Install a PPG Level 1 kite and be done with it. I did and it made a great improvement in the ski.

Also go with the worx sponsons. i had 3 different types and the worxs didn't have that wierd feel in the rear end.

Welcome! XPL hulls don't really slide in the turns...sponsons make them turn better (meaning sharper) so it is not really a sliding/spinning hull. You can slide it, but it will get to a point, then it will launch you off of it.

Thanks guys, I have already have found a ton of info.

It really does suck there aren't too many motor mods to be done to a di motor but what can ya do?

As for sponsons, I have heard to just leave them alone because aftermarkets don't produce significant results and the stockers are a pain to adjust.

If you want results, check out Danny's sponsons for XPL's, INSANE amount of adjustments! I think it took him 3 years of testing to get them JUST right...

Man you need to do the sponsons I absolutely loved mine, but GO WITH WORXS as I have had 3 types and they were the best.

Also Do the PPG L-1 I know you will be happy. I miss my XPDI. Fun factor is through the roof.

Thanks for the link. What would be the advantage of those over another brand as far as funtion.

Oh yeah, I am looking for some graphics such as the one on that model ski. Any ideas?

I know that his are made from the same material as everyone else, just beefier all the way around. I've seen them to, they are solid when mounted on the ski. Plus his have lots of adjustments (like 10-12)for dialing it in, compared to others that only have like 1 or 2...

I'm gonna get on his arse and tell him to get on these boards!

You might think about installing an Adjust-A-Thrust in your pump. It will give you a noticeable increase in low end and midrange, as well as improved hookup thru the chop. Its also good for a little top end too. :)

Happy holidays, and welcome to the boards, there is a ton of useful info here.

You can pitch the prop for a better holeshot. Install a worx grate for better hookup in the chop. You will lose a bit top end but you cant have both. a wetwolf aat does make a difference, Danny sponsons can be adjusted up instead of down which will give you more slip and slide in the turns. and the graphics are from EXOTICSIGNS.com (that was my XPL)
I would not mess with the motor, leave it stock so it stays dependable.
that is just my opinion....

As for an adjust-a-trust, my bro has an rxdi and is not impressed with it...I don't know if he's done tuning and found the proper cone but it's pulling rpms....any thoughts?

I have heard that with the level 1 the motor will stay reliable and this is the plan as of now. Hopefully it will happen around feb.

Happy holidays!!

Level 1 is very reliable, never an issue with mine...Paint or Powdercoat the head before you install it, it will look better, LOL

AAT's are supposed to lower rpms, because they load the engine more. This is how you get more speed out of it. Losing rpms does not necessarily mean you are losing speed, it all depends on prop pitch, nozzle diameter, etc. There is alot of tuning involved to get an AAT to work better then a stock setup. But if you have the time it will be worth it.
