2007 Florida PWC Rally St. Petersburg, FL April 20-22
St. Petersburg is one of Florida’s premier watercraft riding areas with crystal clear waters of Egmont Key, vast riding areas of Tampa Bay, and a variety of conditions in between with the beautiful Holiday Inn Sunspree – Marina Cove (http://www.holiday-inn.com/marinacove-ss) being the center of all the action. We will mix in a handful of watercraft related activities on-water and off at this spectator and family friendly venue.

It sounds like an awesome event. I wish we had more Rally/Jamboree/Mudbug type events here on the west coast. We've got strict Racing and fun Club events but not too much in between.

Come on out to Yuma with us sometime. It's informal and a great time. Lots of different types of skis, and folks. We ride, race, camp, eat and generally just have fun.

The wind was not nice so far and made laying down any real passes. Hoping for a better day tomorrow. Drag competition rescheduled for am.

It's tough when electronics or a loose wire shuts you down. A 13 hour trip down the tube. It will be a easy fix but not till we get back. There will be a different time, hopefully the weather will cooperate. Again thanks for being helpful.

Randy,
I am glad it was not a serious problem. Also hope you understand me wanting to go get your friend with the 3 seater to tow you in. That was
Jims 1300 and Nater who stayed with you. That was some rough water you were broke down in.

I'd like to. We've never ridden Senator's Wash. I've been following "Spitfire's" development, awesome project. I can't wait to see what it eventually tops out at.
Good luck to those guys competing in the FL Rally and thanks for the feed back as it's going down.

I liked the sound of your unit. It looked great even with the rough waters. I did not get to see the races Sunday. We had a plane to catch. How did the rest of the competition do and how many actually raced in that water? Did they do any speed recordings. Thanks for any tid bits.

What we did not see was Elliott smacked the last four buoys with the nose of the ski. With a Jplate on that measured 1.074. Which equals 79.0
on glass water with trim tabs and full handling.

The Sea Doo dealers were there. All you had to do was sign a waver and you gould go out and try the course on your own. They had a nice variety of products there. I tried my first RXP out. The water was rough The whine of the supercharger was cool. The power curve was snappy and crisp. I could get used to one without much trouble. But you guys know how it is. It just didn't feel like a Honda!

We only made it with one ski. We lost feed to the ignition box after hitting a wave. The box was guaranteed if returned to the dealer. There was no other options. We were really looking forward to letting you guys get a look at what is coming. A minor set back. With all the new Honda's flooding the market with super Price deals. There is going to be more technology coming.

More watercraft races have been lost to MSD ignition parts than to any other part on the market...something always fails.
Add salt water mist, and it's almost a guarantee.
Got a MSD powered GPR out here in the desert. Everytime the rider goes to the lake, the MSD shocks his throttle hand. Talk about a thilling ride!

So let me get this straight... after this post only one "fast" Honda shows up and it breaks. Weak. I thought they didn't break?
Bring those fast Honda's down to Mud Bug- I hear there will be some competition for them down there...

Yea, i agree they are the Kmart of CDI ignitions but when running they put out strong fire. there is a few more reasons i choose this model but i don't want to hijack the thread about CDI boxes
The DiS-4 boxs i use are not affective by salt water mist, because they are epoxy filed and totally encapsulated.

 Hey, that's the argument for a guy who's defending a Sea-Doo- not a Honda!
And no- I wasn't in Florida with my ski. I don't even own any fast skis- oh, wait- they may be considered fast by Honda standards....
You're the one who called guys out. Guess your "kitted skis" weren't up to the challenge... don't take it out on me.

Vman, you have me rolling over here BUT the fact is you're gonna break until you find the right combo. Then you of course have the "uh oh" that shouldn't have been a problem event or events. Now we could go on about why a go fast boat breaks but I'm willing to bet you can create a longer list than myself.
Why break the balls of a guy that's at least stepping up to the plate?

If Honda had made the MSD product we are using. There would have been a different outcome. We would at least have made a pass. We all have to start somewhere. We are not going to put our tails between our legs and go back into the shadows. Getting beat only makes me more creative and focused. Competition is Good for all of us!!

#1 because of the first post- a bit confrontational, don't you think.
#2 it's fun, and I hope everyone involved can understand that it's only done in fun.

I watched $50k closed course boats get put on trailers from the sea-salt effecting the MSD ignitions. In fresh water they were fine. I wouldn't have believed it, unless I saw it with my own two teat-watchers.
Just from an uninformed source such as myself? Ditch the MSD. There has to be SOMETHING better for your setup.

Well, BRP doesn't manufacture their own engines- so I guess that lets them off the hook on the Sc issues too then. I understand that bigger power makes trade offs necessary- but the Sea-doos have been doing that all along and it never stopped anyone from scrutinizing their track record for quality and reliability.
Just goes to show ya that any manufacturer's product is gonna be less reliable when chasing speed and power- even Honda.

Truer words have never been spoken.
But I certainly think more power and speed is worth the trade off.

thread hijack alert.....
Mark, the matching CDI to the ECU we use is $900 dealers cost, (the MSD has gone up,but its about $500 now and has epoxy filled internals)
The $900 CDI is Highly reliable but not water proof. The MSD either last forever or breaks without the first hour like Matt's did (we now know it melted.. :( )
i got over 35 MSDs working and 2 have failed.
I may however switch to the $900 one even if the kit goes up $400
thread Jack rant off. ;)
