Don't forget to plug them bolt holes for some extra mph. 8)

I had this stuff up on another site months ago.......but I think it still is good info for that extra .5-1.0 mph that is just too simple to resist........just puttting it up here for those that may have missed this the first time around......

...........here goes. I'm going to post the pics of the putty that we all got introduced to at Mud Bug #1.....this stuff was being used by none other than Tommy Jordan on his ski and with his permission I am passing on one of his tips that need not be forgotten.

The first two pics are the recommended putty to fill in the ride-plate holes and pump shoe holes.......

http://www.extremeteamracing.com/IMG_1091.JPG

The second two pics are of holes that have had this in......but removed so you can see the layering process.

First take a strand of nylon rope and circle the bolt head.

Second take a patch of duct tape and stick to bolt head and rope (this will hold the rope in place and protect the bolt head from the putty adhering to it.

Third Apply putty to fill in the rest of the hole and sand smooth at end of process......stroke the sanding front to back of hull......not side to side.

Fourth......go out and GPS anywhere from .5-1.0 mph gains and wipe that smirk off your face. 8) Some have reported as much as 1.5 mph gains with this.......but I'd say .5-1.0 is average. When/if you need to remove the putty......simply tap with a screwdriver head a few time......out it all pops.

Here are the pics of the layers. The stuff is super easy to work with

Enjoy............. :D :D

Also keep in mind that you do not have to have a polished plate for this to work.......but please don't go to all that extra time/expense for these awsome plates...........and then leave some speed on the table cause you didn't do this.

that stuff works good.

You can also use the 5 minute epoxy too with scotch tape in an "x" pattern (if your upsidedown) then just squeeze the goo in a side hole between layers of tape - then stick another piece of tape over the hole that you just used for the epoxy needle. The epoxy dries at the bottom of the hole just before the bolt hole (dries against the tape itself). Then it is sandable.

Either way is good. Good info. 8)

I did this mod when you first posted and it does work. Instead of using that epoxy, i used a marine expoxy from Loew's. Can't remember the name but came in a blue package.

Dirt cheap at any Lowe's or Autoparts store. 3.99-4.99.
And as DMD stated, there are gains from this.

I have to admit that I am unplugged (kind of like an acoustic set).
The speed left on the table does not bother me as much as knowing
that there are some holes that need plugging.
Kind of like Woody finding a new flock of sheep Baaaa Baaaaa

Yes just as Rafi said do this last after all your testing then plug away, Remeber when sanding the material back down make sure you get it even. The only material showing should just be in the holes (round) If it is not round sand more. I had left just a little bit outside of the holes and I am talking very little it made my boat slower and I was porposing

Hey are you running for some political office that you need the Bush support? First you get someone from Texas (Home of George Bush) and now you have someone in Florida(Home of Jeb Bush) i was thinking something like hatched in Texas raised in Florida. Ellie iam moving to Florida over the next 4-5 months and wanted it set up for Florida racing. most racers there are 1/8 and 1/4 mile . plus that is the nice thing about the Fercho package. lots of tech support and communication. of course i dont need to tell you something that you already know. all have to say is iam 200% satisfied by all the attention my ski has received. also the more pros who look at it the better it will become
