    Wiseco Piston Clearance

I sent my raider 1100 cylinders out yesterday to have them bored up to 82mm for the new Wiseco Pistons.

I requested for the piston clearance to be set at .007". Does this sound ok or this this to large?

Wiseco recommends .004"-.005" but I have read that others have had seizure problems at this clearance.

    Thanks
    Matt

I have heard others that have gone to .006-.007 on their 84mm bore 1200 without a problem. IMHO .005 is a little tight.

007 is correct. 005 will not work.
if you have a misshap with carb tuning or forget to warm it up it.
Or little johnny gets on it when the lake is a duck pond and holds it wide open in a 2000 foot left hand circle for 10 minuets.
It will seize at the exhaust port every time no exceptions!!!!!!!!!!.
The pro-x piston and the factory piston will work at 005 on the 1100 and 0055 on the 1200 65U

That is a great starting point, those things will work with no problem given the proper clearence, I have logged tons of hours on them, I always use at least .007, you should have no problem unless you use it in severly cold water, just make sure it is warm like everyone else says, I have 75 hours on a set with no drop yet in compression, not every one likes them, i think they had a bad episode with them, i have always run them and was told real early about the clearences...............

Tim has my cylinders I told him .007" Wiseco 84mm

Im looking for a art or pro x piston 84.5mm for another set does anyone have one laying arround.

Anyone selling new pistons for cheap.

ART or Pro X pistons I would set at .005-.0055" Wiseco I would set at .007" this is in a 65U GP1200 specifically.

.0065 to .009 clearance on them. Depending on how loose you want to go. The problem with wiseco is you have to watch the tops of the domes. After a while, you'll see a dent in them. You can still run them, but you'll see what I am talking about.
My seadoo had over 120 hours on them with wisecos, best thing I ever put in the motor. I took it apart to freshen the top end and found the tops of the pistons had a dent in them. Another friend found the same problem. The ski still ran great though.

I just got an email letting me know the cylinders are bored and ready to be shipped back to me. Looks like I'll be able to put the engine back together next weekend.

I can't wait to get back out on the lake to test things.

Here's the list of things I've changed since my last ride.

    Ported Cylinders
    Bored Cylinders to 82mm
    New Wiseco Pistons
    Added Riva Rear Exhaust
    Trued Hull
Jetworks Mod fed from Second Hose from Pump Mod
    Added Riva Reed Spacer
Added (2) 120cfm Vantec Fans and removed Rear Vent Hoses
    Rejetted Carbs for above Mods
