    Exclamation how do I clean carbon buildup off piston tops??

    pulled the head and there is rough carbon buildup on the tops and bottoms of the pistons. what can i use to clean this off?

    I just use a wire brush or scotch-brite. Some say that shaving cream works wonders.

    Brake cleaner works well too with a wire brush...

    i've found the best overall method for carbon removal is to buy new and better pistons

    Buy some GM top engine cleaner. That stuff eats carbon up. I use it at work.Good stuff.
