    Speedometer problem

I have a 98 Gp1200. The speed readout jumps all over the place. If I hold a steady speed the numbers constantly change. It may say 35 for a few seconds them go down to 10, the 40. Anyone know what can cause this or how to fix it. The problem started when I had the dealer install a solas impeller. Could the sensor be hooked up wrong? I don't want to take it back to the dealer because it is 150 miles away.
    Thanks,
    Budman

Mine does it too. 97 gp1200. I installed my speedo cause the PO didnt have one on it. Mine wont read above 20-25 mph. I've tried moving the speedo sensor unit up and down. Tried it up with ride plate shimmed down in front. Tried it down with plate shimmed down in the front. I am riding today with plate shimmed up in the front and speedo sender unit positioned down. I may adjust while on the water to see if it makes a difference.

Maybe the sender (wheel thingy) is worn out. My spins freely by hand sometimes and other times it will vibrate and spin like it is out of balance or loose.

clean the connection and fill it up with some di electric grease, this most likely will not fix it but before you go and trash the whole system give it a shot

Amazon has GPS's used for cheap.

Went out today, Back of ride plate shimmed down, front not shimmed. Speedo sender low on mounting holes. Speedo worked better than it ever has. Still not showing the same speeds as my brothers riding right beside him. Next step is to raise it back up so it is flush with the hull.

I noticed a few times it would read 0. then start working again randomly
