just picked up my first yamaha

picked up a 01 gp1200r a few weeks ago with 2 low cylinders the middle one is fine, but i plan to do a full rebuild this winter when i get time ...before i start on the engine im going to reinforce the pump tunnel, get a new seat cover, remove some stickers and alot of cleaning.

here are my plans as of now for my wish list im not so much worried for speed right now just a dependable ski that can take getting rode hard

    1.r&d d plate, and sensor
2.free flow pipe to get rid of the sound suppressor tube
3.new bearings and seals in the bottom end
4.remove oil injection and go premix..
5.install primer kit and remove choke stuff(can i hook up the primer lines to the factory oil injection hose spots?)
6.new yamaha power valves with wave eater clips or gas valves(opinons needed i just want some that i dont have to worry about destroying my engine and are the reliable)..
7.possibly removing the factory air box setup and running individual flame arrestors (anyone every suck water from having these?)
8.get the carbs rebuilt and rejetted
    9. and last is my top end, the sbt top end with new cylinders and pistons is the best price but ive found but ive read mixed reviews, would i be better doing that or spending what it would cost for all that and getting my cylinders redone, and have to buy pistons

    your input/opinions are greatly appreciated

yeah send your cyls and carbs off to Carl..great work, fair price, good turnaround.
islandracing.net . Unless you do the carbs yourself.

sbt are sleeved and they dont always line up the ports well.

doesn't sound to me like you will need the free flow exhaust. i would wait to do that until you do some more mods

well i plan to have open filters, some type of reeds havent decided yet, d plate, and once i get it running pretty solid i want to mill the head or get some aftermarket heads. would this still be overkill for these mods?
