    2001 virage missing?

    hey everyone,

so here is my problem. I have two skis that someone gave to me. One is a 2001 virage and the other is a 96 sl 700. the virages motor was shot do to lean burnout. So i decided since it is a three seater i would want to ride it. The sl 700 has a bad stator which are spendy. So i took the motor out of th sl and put it in the virage. I got everything hooked up and the motor and pump aligned and i took it out today and it would not get up and go. At about a 1/4 throttle it sounded great but when gunned it it would not get up to speed. It would just sputter. I dont know if the carbs are out of sync or if they need cleaned and rebuilt? Could i please get some help?
    thanks

Have the carbs been opened up and cleaned inside?

Are you using the Virage or the SL 700 carbs?

Are you getting strong spark on both cylinders?
Note: On some twins, both plugs must be connected and grounded to the engine for either to spark properly.

I have not took the carbs apart yet. I am using the SL carbs.

    I do have good spark.

I was at work today and got talking with one of the guys and I do not have the oiler hooked up. I am premixing the gas 40:1. I do not have anything plugging the nipples were the oiler hoses go. Will this cause the carbs to not work right? I think that it is sucking air through the nipples.

Yes ,you need to cap those fittings at the carbs.
Let us know how it goes.

I capped of the oil nipples and it still ran the same.

I was wondering if it is possible that the timing is off. I did not mess with the timing at all.
