    Lost #3

Lost compression in #3. Happened suddenly. Really need help trying to figure out why this may have happened. By looking at the piston, it looks like I dropped a powervalve. It chipped right around the exhaust port - and burned a hole in the side of the piston. I have wave-eater clips, and everything is in tact. Valve will not extend into bore of cyclinder. The end of the powervalve did get damaged a little - I assume this happened when the piston came apart.

Damn man, sorry to hear. When did this happen? I was going to see if you wanted to ride this weekend.

How many hours since the last rebuild?

Happened at GW yesterday when my son had it out. That's the last time he's going out without me.
I did a complete rebuild in early '07. It's been over (2) years and about 165 hours. Ski has 515 hours

Cylinder is only damaged in the one spot - right above the exhaust port. Off to Millenium we go.

Now that you mention it the ring must have moved on me. It's in a different position in 2nd & 3rd picture on the original post. About 2" of the ring is missing. If it jumped the locator pin, wouldn't I have damage on the piston or cylinder in that area. The locator pin is in tact.
