    Modified Plate Install

    I pulled te prop last night and also pulled the plate and grate. I only pulled the grate to add the inserts. The total time was under an hour. I have the new (12/22) impeller installed and I am ready to reinstall the asembly. Here are a couple of questions:

    1. What is everyone using as a sealant between the machined pump surfaces. BTW lacquer thinner and a plastic brillo pad clean the old sealant very nicely.

    2. The plate mod that has been discussed consists of removing the shims. Are these the two stanless plates that are pressed on to the ride plate? If so are those shims merely force pressed on to te plate?/

    3. I don't have my manual with me, what is the torque on the four pump bolts

    I used a 3m silicone sealant for the installation.

    I assume that you are talking about a FZR, if so the shims are those you are talking about.

    The torque spec is 29.5 ft lbs for the pump bolts, 29 ft lbs for the intake grate and 12.5 ft lbs for the ride plate bolts.

    many thanks, I will button it up tonight. This should be a good benchmark for the FZ platform with the basic breathing mods and no wheel.
