RXP Hull Intakes water
I had to replace my VTS motor last week. I did not have the special tool to tighten the plastic nut outside the hull. I used a pliers and seemed to get it what I thought was tight enuff.
Once out at the river we stopped in a cove for a bit & cool adult style refreshments. After awhile I noticed the hull was in-taking water, a-lot of water. I took it for a 6-7 spin to get the water out, which it did. But i noticed it taking on water again later when stopped at the gas dock.
I'm guessing that I didn't get the nut tight enuff, it worked loose, or the rubber gasket thingy wasn't seated well.
Does that seem right? Or possibly some other issue?
I've been reading a few threads on the bilge pump & like that idea for peace of mind.

Well if your ski didn't leak before, and all that's been changed is the vts, it's probably leaking in that area. I know that the carbon seal on the drive shaft can go bad, but I think that usually shows up under power. I would take the seat and engine shroud off and run it on the launch ramp (when it's not busy of course) and use a flash light to see if you can find your leak. You'll have to have the ski in deep enough to cover the vts shaft of course. Let us know what turns up.
Where about at the river do you hang? I play at Big River near Parker. Glad I'm not there this weekend though, It's 120 degrees! Will the wax melt off my ski at 120? Next weekend is better, only 110
