I have a 2007 RXT, I ride the sometimes rough waters of Lake Michigan with. Had the same recurring problem with mine, solved it by slightly bending the mounting bracket to where it was "square" with the cylinder.

After this it has not popped off since!!!

I had mine pop off the dealer said there was a service bulletin about it. The solution was to move the bottom attachment point back 12-15mm and it takes the stresses off of the shock.

    We shall see.

Mine also came off the other day. I cannot compress the shock to get it back on. Should I be able to compress the shock with my hands?

Remove the L arm from hood on top. Push bracket up as high as possible and install shock on bracket. Now insert rachet in bracket and crank down until you can reinstall L arm.
