Better Way to PLUG Rideplate Holes

Use a 7/8 inch plastic plug like what you can find at any hardware store. Just glue the plug into the bolt holes using waterproof JB weld or whatever. These plastic plugs have a very smooth top like what you find on a carriage bolt. Attached is a picture one of them. You can use a rubber hammer to push them into the ridepplate holes (you need six plugs).

They are normally used in automotive applications as bolt hole covers. They are used on plastic panels mainly. They fall into the category as automotive fasteners.
