1996 Seadoo SPX - Novice - Please help!
I am going tomorrow to check out a 1996 Seadoo SPX. Seems like it is in fair condition. Other than checking out everything to make sure it looks alright, I am going to do a compression test. I believe I just need to take one spark plug off, attach the compression testor, rev the engine up, and repeat for the other spark plug. Does this sound right?
Also what kind of gas oil/mix does this thing take?

Ground both spark plug leads. (Two grounding posts are located right next to the rear electrical box on an SPX.) Take one spark plug out. Attach the compression gauge. BUMP the engine several times with the start button to build pressure. It is not going to crank because you have the plug wires grounded. Note your gauge reading and repeat the same for the second spark plug cylinder. You should have approximately 150 psi on each cylinder... but more importantly each cylinder should be only be +/- 5 psi from each other.
