how to add carb pulse fittings?

I have to put some fittings in the 1300 motor i bought to attach the carb pulse lines. I can see where to drill the holes, but what kind of fittings should I get? should i be drilling and tapping for an NPT thread or should I just glue a piece of pipe in there?

Who else has done this, and what did you do?

I bought some barbed fittings, barbs on both ends. Drilled the holes in the case. Now i'm going to try to put them in with jb weld. 2 are still press fits, which I wanted, but the third one got wallered out a bit and fits a little loose.

I had to grind a little off the edge of the tabs on the cylinders (exhaust mounts) so that I could drill straight down. Didn't grind enough on the third one, that's why it got wallered out.

Smallest thread available is 1/8" NPT. OD of that thread is about the same as the OD of the boss I have to drill into.

Factory ones are just pressed in tubes. Probably with some kind of sealant or adhesive. But obviously they use more precise equipment than I can use.

Buy a drill set and go up one size at a time till you are a few thou smaller than the nipple then press them in.

You can buy the oem nipples if you run into fitment problems.

The barbed fittings are already in with the jb weld.

And it's kind of hard to drill precisely in that area. The tabs on the cylinders are in the way. Getting a perfect hole for a good seal on a press fit would be near impossible. I'd have to use some kind of adhesive / sealant anyway.

If for some reason you cant drill it properly then you can drill under size and ream it a reamer will give you a nice straight perfectly sized hole.
You can get reamers any size you want.

It's too late. I already drilled it and installed the barbed fittings with the jb weld.

This advice would have been helpful this morning. But I think it'll be fine as it is.
