    Newbie Honda Questions!

I am looking at Honda for my next ski.
I have heard all good about them!
I was wondering about after market parts!
    Any good website?
Does any one use after market ride plates, scoop grates, and sponsons?
On My 1999 GP it made a huge difference on handleing and it kept it hooked up in the choppy!
    Later!

    I am also thinking about a Honda 12x 3 seater. 8400 o.t.d. with stuff.
    06 year.
Are these reliable ski's? Turbo maint. issues?
    Anything need to know?
Will be doing both offshore and lake/river riding.
Looking to purchase Wednesday, so sooner input the better. Thanks, Rod.

8400 sounds kinda high for an 06. My friend picked up an 06 f12x for 6,000 a few months ago. The turbo needs the wastegate lubed once in a while. Other than that, these skis are bulletproof.

    06 12 (135hp) is 5999, plus tax (Peoples Republic of Cali) plus dest. 400.00, set-up 199.00, dmv 49.00, reg. 40.00

    06 12x (Turbo165hp) 6999, plus above mentioned crapola.

0512x 2 seater 5999, plus above crapola. Tax here is 9.75%

Thanks for the answer as to reliability. What do you use to lube waste gate? Thanks again.

Me & my girl bought 2 2005 R-12X's in October 2008. I've learned to do all the basic maintenance & post-ride stuff myself and it's really easy.

ZERO (0) problems with either ski and they have about 65-70 hours each now.

The R's you can't tow with and have a max/ weight of 338lbs. and are tippy with 2 people.

The F's are stable with 2 people, but not as manuverable, and you can tow with them.

Got an 06 f12x and it handles best of any ski I've rode. Broke in this weekend. Went on a group ride, (So.Cal., AWA club) and 15 ski's present. 8 were Honda's. Bit unusual eh?
Good mileage, a bit of turbo lag, but when its on, its on & crackin'.
It seems like a solid design and a solid ski. I dont care if it's the fastest on the lake, or ocean.
Going to ride to Catalina Island and back next weekend. Will post on offshore impressions then.
Better than usual idle manueverability also.
But I still love my SLT. (Polaris) 'cause it is just my favorite piece of crap.
The 12F Kawa's right up there too. Great ski!!
6 ski's now. Going to have to sell a coupla old ones to help pay for the new beast.

That's alright b/c when you're broken down out there, I'm only gonna tow you back in at 5mph anyway.

But anyway I ride almost exclusively in the Ocean, and there ain't no way in Hell I'm going anywhere near my Honda's 61-62mph max. Maybe if I was riding around on a lake that's flat like glass it'd matter, but not for me on 99% of the days in the Ocean it's too rough for that kind of speed on a 10ft. R-12X.

Thx Mark. Went out again Monday and going again Friday.
Going to do an ocean ride on the 8th.
Anyone think the Macboost chip is a good deal?
The ski porpoises alot at about 40-45 mph in light chop. Any suggestions on this? Ride plates, pump wedges? Or are there no parts for the Honda's of this sort?
