Ok, How Do I keep Water Out of The VTS ??

I replaced the VTS motor because it locked up from get'n water in it. Took it out to the river last week, took it back out today (for some maintenance & bilge install). I couldn't believe how much water was in there.

What must I do to keep the water out to prevent it from ruining this motor from water intake?

Replace the rubber boot and oem clamps on the outside once a year or so

Perhaps you forgot the rubber washer under the plastic bolt that holds the VTS in place.

That's what I was think'n about doing. Silicone the boot, correct ?

I was thinking about doin the motor also, in areas i think water could get in.

What about the "box" the motor is in ? I'd like to, but at the rate i'm pulling this system apart not sure it's a good idea yet.
