    Setting ring end gap

Finally got around to taking my cylinder for its bore an hone to a very well known engine builder. Was told by the owner that if bored properly the ring end gap doesnt need to be filed down. Is this true? Im running a WSM piston if that gives a little more info to you guys.

I would agree. If it is bored properly and the rings are made properly for that bore, they should not need to be resized.
But the end gap does need to be checked.

Not always true. I've had some cheaper aftermarket pistons i used for a guy that the end gap needed to be filed. I've never had to file a set of factory rings, Wiseco rings and i don't think WSM rings ever either. The rings in the wsm kits seem to be very good quality compared to some of the cheap crap that is out there. You "shouldn't" have to file, but i would definitely check them.

    ALWAYS check them.

Takes less than 4 minutes to do so, and will prevent possible cyl damage.
