Open loop cooling experts- Please Help

My conversion ski has had a water leak and I traced it down to the weep hole in the side of the block near the waterpump (06 RXP motor). Today I pulled the cover off and found this. Can someone tell me why there is a piece of silicone hose in there? It looks like the seal is all torn up and will have to be replaced, has anyone ever changed this seal and what does it take to get it out of the block?

Thats fine..The silicone was to hold the grease in that pocket so it doesnt rust. No biggie there.

Behind that water seal is the oil pump in my conversion the seal went bad and water was going straight to the bearings causing a total meltdown so i took the PTO cover out cut the shaft of the oil pump and sealed the hole by welding it problem solved

I am not getting any oil out of the weep hole and no water in oil so hopefully the inner seal is still OK. What are my options at this point????

is there a nut on the end of the shaft? as there needs to be to hold pressure against the water pump seal usually you just cut the plastic off the impellor and this leaves you with a square nut to put back on.
Looks like you need to replace the carbon shaft seal fit the nut and reassemble

There was not a nut on the shaft. It looked like there needed to be something to keep the seal pushed in on the shaft. I will order another seal and see if I can figure out how to remove the one in there now.
