Impeller nose cone came off....
I took the pump off my RXP-X to change props and found the plastic stock impeller nose cone was off the prop and up the shaft into the drive shaft cavity in the hull.
It wasn't damaged, just appears to have unscrewed itself.
I want to put a Skat prop with the billet nose cone on but am afraid it will come loose too and because its metal will doo some damage if it gets to spinning loose.
Anbody ever had this happen before?
What can I doo about it?
Your insight would be appreciated.

I think alot of people are leaving these off. I have heard many stories here of solas cones (aluminum ones I think riding up and causing damage just like you mention)
When I take my stock prop off this week for tweaking I will be leaving mine off for good.

I put the Solas aluminum nose cone on mine...red loctite and tightened her down real good. Been fine for 15 hours so far...

Isn't there a loss in performance with it missing?
A reduction in the smooth flow of water into the impeller?
Why would SeaDoo put one there and other aftermarket sell billet ones if there is no need for them?

There's a pretty well documented .5 mph or so gain without one, but personally I'd rather have the peace of mind of having it keep the driveshaft splines clean and clear of all the shit I'll suck up in there otherwise. I started a thread on this a while ago. People seem to be split about 50/50 leave it off or put it on. Pulling the pump isn't a fun job to me, so I left the cone on in hopes that I never have to dork with it again.
