    Newbie Oil Change Question

    Hola,

It's getting close to do my initial 10 hour oil change. I have a Oil extractor on order and was about to go out and pick up some 4 stroke yamalube. How much oil will I actually be replacing? 3 quarts worth? I just want to make sure I pick up the right amount of quarts..

    Thanks!

P.S - The FX HO kicks a$$, I can't even imagine what it would be like with a Supercharger!

I have a 09 FX HO cruiser I now what you mean about how strong the engine is without a super charger.

I am doing my 10 hour today and bought a gallon jug of yamaha lube 4w from my local dealer. I figure on using at least 3 qts out of the four qt jug. Remember do not over fill it it will ruin the air filter

If it is like the SHO ( I suspect yes) Jacking up the side of the trailer will tilt the ski and allow more oil removal... Good for about another .5 qts...

I did this and tilted, forward, put it back to level, tried turning it over with the throttle held so it wouldnt start, everything. I still was only able to get about 2.3-2.5 Liters out in my Moeller can. I put 2.5 quarts back in and when I go riding this weekend I'll check it again. This was for my 10 hour change. So either the oil just would not come out or it only had about 2.5-2.8 quarts in it. And yes, I ran the motor for about 5 minutes before hand to warm up the oil.

did you remember to turn around 5 times while rubbing your stomach and patting your head?

    3.25 L

I had the same problem. When the extraction tube stops, push it down further. It needs to turn a 90 degree bend, and goes another 4 inches or so. Then you will get the rest. (At least thats how it works on my SHO)

The oil was sooo much cleaner when I got the 3.25 L out. See the photo on post #30 of this thread.

Yeah I tried ramming it down further but couldn't get it to budge. I'll try it next time I change out the oil. My guess is its stop at a piece of metal on the oil pan to keep the dipstick from ramming down too far.

    Thanks for the info.

Put a bend in it before you shove it down the tube. Or trim off a little at the end.
