    Fuel Problem 99 slth

I just got the ignition working on my 99 slth. The problem I have now is I am not getting any fuel to the carbs. I checked the petcock and it is in the right position. I took both fuel lines off that attach to the carbs and there is not a drop of fuel in them. Because it has not been started in a year is there a way to prime the fuel system or any other areas I need to check for troubleshooting. Thanks.

Is the pulse line from the side of the crankcase up to the fuel pump in place, no cracks in the hose or loose clamps?

If you blow into the fuel supply line (runs from the fuel selector valve to the fuel pump), does it bubble inside the fuel tank?

Also blow into the return fuel line, make sure it is not blocked.

If you want to prime the fuel system, you can install an inline primer bulb, like the ones used on outboard motor fuel lines, just before the fuel pump inlet . A few squeezes should fully prime the system.

I put a primer bulb in on the fuel pump line and it will start up now. The problem I have now is overheating. I rode it for about 10 minutes at low to medium throttle and the motor was very hot to touch so I shut it off. Where should I look to see why it's not cooling properly. Thanks again for your help.

Clogged cooling system check from the pump first. Inside the jet pump there is a screen in the nozzle.

Item #8 has a screen that should be checked.

Remove the thermostat housing, and check for clogs or stuck thermostat.

Also check the exhaust water injection orifice, and clean the filter screen for the exhaust water injection.

The online parts diagrams can show you where these are located - items 8 and 10 in the posted diagram

And check the water inlet screen inside the jet pump nozzle, as beerdart suggested.
