    1997 gtx bugs down

I have a friend of mine that wants to buy a 1997 gtx but when he went to test it he notice that when he reach 6500rpm then ski bogs down to 5500rpm then go backs up... Any ideas is this will be a easy fix or will be a not a good idea to buy this ski?

    Thanks

Rebuild, or atleast clean out the carbs. Especially the internal filters. That is usually the problem.

Spray some raid ant and roach killer around the steering wheel nut (the loose one...behind the wheel). J/K. Usually the raves, as stated above, clean them or update them to the slotted type. 97's had a bad run of raves so cleanning them may or may not do the trick. IMO carb bogging drops more than a 1000rpm's (although a good carb r&r and fuel line replacement wouldn't hurt).

when i clean raves i just pull them out and use a nice wire brush or the wire wheel on my bench grinder, sometimes depends on how dirty they are u can just use brake cleaner and a rag.

My 98' GTX did the same thing a year after I changed all the fuel line. Tried different carb and fuel cleaners and it didn't help. Pulled the carbs and cleaned like in the thread "DIY- Fuel Systenm Cleaning" in the two stroke section. Both carbs had the small filter in the carb full of gooook. Cleaned with good carb cleaner and no more problems. Took this rookie about 3 hrs start to finish.
