Oil Warning Light came on... oil level was fine.

I just took my ski out on the lake for the first time, I made sure the oil was full and fuel was full. I was putting around for about 2 hours, and suddenly the warning light starts blinking and beeping, and I see the oil symbol flashing. I headed back to shore immediately thinking the oil was low (but didnt make sense because I had a 1/2 tank of gas at the tim) but about 10-15 seconds after it came on and started beeping, it turned off, and never came on again (2 minute ride back to the dock). Any idea what this could have been caused by? When I got back to the ramp I put more oil in and it only took a quart. Any idea why this would come on for 15 seconds then go off, and not come on again, when the oil level is still very high?

    Thanks,

    -Scott

if you went premix it would be one less thing to worry about.

yeah that is going to be one of the first things I do to this ski, I need to order the kit.

its just a PITA to keep track of the oil level and all.
when you pre-mix, do you put the oil directly into the gas tank after you have filled up, or have a gas jug that you mix them in before putting into the tank?

This is from a 2000 model, not sure if it applies to EFI. Is there any chance that the oil has clogged the screen? I have never heard anyone mention cleaning, or having a problem with this. See part #13.

Mix your gas and oil in a 5 gal gas jug each time before you put it in your ski.
This is one way to keep your gas and oil ratio right and making sure that it is mixed well.

hm definitely something to look at, I'll check in the AM.

although wouldnt that cause the light to stay on as well? it just seemed like it was a fluke intermittent issue and something triggered it to come on but then went off... i dont know though, I am as dumb as a doornail when it comes to jet skis (just got this 2 days ago).

There is a vent, and (I think) check valves in this system too.

    Premix is so easy!

If it acts up on me again tomorrow I wont ride it until I've got the block off kit!! What a pain. Honestly the whole time riding today I just thought about the ski blowing up b/c of the oiling system not functioning and not knowing about it!
