Why is the Pro1200 heavier than SLX1200?

I am looking at the Polaris service publications and It says:

2000 SLX 565lbs 12.5 gal fuel tank 5.0 oil tank

    2000 Pro1200 625lbs. 9.8 gal fuel tank, 3.5 oil tank

    everything else is almost same.

So where does the Pro1200 gain 60lbs.?
    Is it in the hull?
Pro1200 is made of fiberglass reinforced composite(FRC) and SLX is made of sheet molded compound(SMC).

    Thanks RiZ

The hull is much different...a v-shaped hull vs. a flat bottom hull. The Pro should be lighter though...FRC is a little lighter than SMC.

The publication that you are reading must be a misprint. The official "listed" dryweight of the Pro 1200 for 2000 is 520lbs.

625lbs. is more like the 2000 Virage TX.

Thanks Crazy, that sounds more like it. The book that lists these specs is Polaris Service Publications 2000 Service Manual PN9916290.

Yes Crazy you are correct, I am looking in the polaris service manual now and the Genesis is listed at 625, Virage 620.
