Has anyone dropped an ultra 150 engine into a 1100 zxi. I can not seem to find anything searching. It would be a fun toy!!

Personally, I wouldn't do it. The 1100 ZXi hull wasn't that stable. They had a big recall on the '96's and took the 97's off the market for a few months while they came up with a fix for it. They were just flipping over while going straight on glassy water. The air induction hull didn't have enough wetted area to be stable at higher speeds.

The two hulls handle very differently.

That said, are you going to change the pump?

I was just thinking about it. I almost think it would better to just buy an ultra 150 and leave the zxi alone.

well, based on that comment- IS IT better put an 1100 motor in Ultra 150 hull??

well, based on what i am reading here- IS IT better put a big bore 1100 motor into ultra 150 hull?? go with a big bore setup, beef it up with good reeds and novi carbs from the ultra???
i have an ultra 150 1200cc with a "shattered" engine. (almost in half-)
have a decent running 1100 motor and e-box from my cousin if i want it...
how hard would making the 3 mount setup fit a 4 mount engine pan be??
the weight / size differences between the two motors seem to be negligible.
OR, would it bet better to glass up the hull to fit the standard zxi 4 engine mount style??
late model zxi, and ultra 150, and ultra 130 hulls all look so similar to me..
exhaust plumbing might be an issue??
fun toy must also has to be a safe toy at our dock.
witnessed a flatwater flip once, wont own a zxi ever again. even with the holes in the pump shoe.

It was the holes in the hull that caused the problem. They glued a big bowl on the front, and on the later models, they removed the air induction setup. I haven't heard of any of those flipping. I had a '96 and it never flipped on me, it was pretty fun, but nothing like the Ultra.
