    sunk 08 sho

i am looking at purchasing a 08 sho that was sunk. I was wondering what everyone thought is a good price to get it for ? or if it is even worth it . hull is in good shape . Is the motor saveable ? if the motor can not be saved what is a rough cost to rebuild it ?

Tell the owner you are only buying the hull cause the motor is toast. Don't pay a dime for the motor. Make him a super lowball offer and get out if he doesn't like it. For me it'd be too much time and aggravation, just get a clean used SHO and be done with it!

Several thousand, like $2-4k or so for stock depending on damage. At this point unless you wanted to keep it stock I would go with aftermarket piston, rods, machined crank, lightened valvetrain, etc... while you're in there. Which would add about another $3k in parts.

If you don't want the motor depending on condition I might take it for a negotiated price...

If you buy it & want to part it out I'm interested in the driveline: pump, nozzle, midshaft, prop shaft.

My guess is unscrewed drain plugs. I've seen a few in my friend's shop that were sunk for this reason.

I left mine out once and it filled up about half way. I didn't sink. I drained it and it ran fine.

The ski got stuck under a dock in rising tide and also filled about half full. It was a little tippy to ride but far from sinking. I manually bucketed out a bunch of the water then let the bilge pump finish the rest. It still runs fine.
