i have a 2002 virage,single carb.my pto piston looks like it went through a meat grinder.can i unbolt the muffler from the manifold and then take the engine out?or will the whole thing come out still together.it looks like trying to unbolt the manifold while still in the boat could be rough.also where is a good place to buy engine parts.pistons,etc.are all sbt parts of suspect quality? thanks,

If you just need to replace the piston and recondition the PTO cylinder, the engine can stay in the hull.
What you will need to do is check the condition of the PTO connecting rod and big end rod bearing. If either of those are damaged, then the crank shaft must be rebuilt, which requires sending the crank to a rebuild shop.
