    2000 Genesis Bogging

I have a 2000 genesis 1200 that is fuel injected and it keeps bogging.

After a lot of reading I thought that it may be the temp sensor...no go. I unplugged it to check and it put it in limp mode and threw the overheat code.

I have good fuel pressure, spark, and compression on all 3 cyl.

It is intermittent and I rode it hard for an hour and a half 2 days in a row...took it camping at the lake and it ran great for about 10 minutes after unloading it and then my girlfriend came in and I went to hop on and it was bogging out again. Give it throttle and it just putts along...one WOT it will bog like its missing and the rpm wont get above 4ishK.

    Any ideas?

    Welcome

Click below for the service manual, and other good info

    Have you changed the TPS?

A bad TPS can cause strange symptoms.

I downloaded a service manual a couple weeks ago and have been getting familiar with it.

I havent tried the tps. Ill have to check it out and test it. Its getting really frustrating, almost to the point where im ready to list it for sale

Despite what the service manual says, you really cannot test a TPS on the bench.

When mounted on a hot vibrating engine, a TPS can act and measure differently than when sitting still.

The best way is to buy a new TPS, and install it. They are not that expensive, and it is a good idea to have a spare TPS anyway.

If the new TPS fixes the problem, away you go.
If not, put the old TPS aside as your spare.

    Ficht TPS versions, sources
1999-2001 non-pigtail TPS, 2002-2004 pigtail TPS versions are not interchangeable

I forgot to mention...it runs fine and revs up fine when on the hose and not under load. Dont know if that makes a difference or not

Ive never checked fuel pressure when it is bogging either. Every time I have a gauge it seems to run fine. A drop in fuel pressure from a fuel pump that is starting to go out possibly?

Fuel pump starting to die is a possibility, but order a spare TPS anyways

You can get used Ficht fuel pump assemblies for reasonable dollars, and often they just need the pressure regulator re-attached
How to repair a Ficht fuel pump - pressure regulator has fallen inside

One owner found a non-Polaris source for the actual electric fuel pump motor, but it was unclear whether the result was as good as using a genuine Polaris pump module.
