    Genesis, no spark...

    hey guys,

    I have a 2001 Polaris Genesis 1200 (carb)

put a new sbt motor in it and .... no spark

The only thing i thought it could was the disabled oil injection. But it wasnt

Ive done some searching but havent found much for the carbed models. I was thinking it may be the battery, it reads 11.8 volts as it sits.

Anybody think it could be a bad battery? it seems to roll over good

12.4 volts under load, or no load?

No load voltage doesn't mean anything.

The battery must deliver over 10.5 volts while cranking the engine - which is a heavy load for the battery.

Under 10.5 volts while cranking, and you will not have spark.

12.4 under no load, the MFD read 11.5 )i dont think that is accurate enpugh) while sitting

Ill hook up the carger and bring the bettery to a full charge, it may indeed be a bad battery

    i still have no spark...

the battery checks good (I even bought a new battery for it)

I tested the stator and that checked out good, but have gotten to the e box yet, I checked the fuses in the box and they are good.

My Q is would it be the oil oil sender? i have the wires disconnnected...

    thanks for any advice

Oil sender will not cause no spark.

What is the battery voltage while cranking?

What else do you have disconnected?

    nothing else really

i took apart the tether switch (why? Idk)

And connected the two wires and tried to get spark out of it but nothing
It didnt have spark before i took it apart. I already ordered a start stop switch.

Edit; I will check battery voltage in a little bit

The tether switch on most (all?) Polaris models kills the engine when the lanyard is pulled, closing the switch and connecting the two wires.

When the lanyard is in place, the switch is held open circuit.
