What is the best Pump/impellor for an sl750?

    Hey Hulk!

I think my ski recently sucked up something a lot harder than water. I heard a light thud and the engine stalled. It start back up and ran but soon after started making a grinding noise. On further investigation I found that the drive shaft was shaking, and the impeller was rubbing against the housing. The impeller is damaged, and the housing has chunks missing out of the veins. ouch!

This frankensteins monster of a ski is auctual a 96 hull with a 93 engine and pump. My question is this: would a 96 sl900 pump/ and impellor work on this ski? What would be the best setup for this machine?

    Thanks,

    Shen

    Welcome to the Hulk.

The SL 900 pump would be great for that ski, but the impeller wouldn't be. It's too much pitch for a 750.

Use a Skat Trak 13/18 if you like accel or a Nu Jet 5.0 for more top speed.

But a stock 94 or 95 SL 750 impeller would work well.

Thanks for the info xlint89. I also found a 94sl 750 pump on fee-bay. Is there much difference between this and the 900 pump? Do I understand correctly that all of the pumps and impellers are interchangeable?

    Thanks again!

Yes they have interchangable parts, but the 900 should have the extended pump. Much better steering and a little more top speed too.

94 and newer used all interchangable jet pumps, EXCEPT the Octane model....

I have read that the extended pumps work better. Would the drive shaft from my 93 setup work with the extended pump? Anything else I would need to change?

For best results, you want the longer driveshaft to go with the extended pump. BUT, you can use a short driveshaft and set it up like a PRO 785 pump.

You'll need all the parts from the other pump, since your 93 pump will not interchange any parts.

You'll prob want a longer ride plate than stock. Something like the Ocean Pro or a 780 SLX plate would work well.

Then you'll need to make extensions for the steering cable and trim rod. Really easy to do. A little SS threaded rod and a couple couplers and that's it.

This should be your 93 750 pump.

And this is an extended pump

You'd notice much better acceleration, more top speed and better steering with the extended pump.
