Unhappy 94 SL750 reving up with out giving gas

ok, I have 94 SL750, I accidently threw away the fuel restricter so I made a new one and placed it inline. I started up my ski to test the fuel pressure for some reason the ski just starts and revs up pretty quickly to like 6000 RMPs with out touching the gas. The throtle plates arn't stuck open because I can see them closed. This is stock engine ski, only have a primer kit, fule pump upgrade, Long OP plate and a scoup grate installed.

The only thing I can think of is the CDI us messed up. That is the only other thing that controls the ski's engine. Any help would be great, I want ot get my SL750 back on the water.

reving up right away usually means a lean condition either from an air leak, or too little fuel. Try pulling the choke to bring the revs back down. Did the problem only start after you made your home-made fuel restrictor? What size hole did you put in the restrictor, it needs to be something like .020".

I don't have a choke anymore I have a primer system. I have a 80 main jet for the restrictor. The only gaskets that could be leaking would be the seals. I don't have a head leak and the all intake gaskets are new since the carbs were rebuilt last year

    +1 on air leak
5 bucks says = reed cage gaskets
grab a wrench and give everything a turn
never heard of a restrictor wrong/missing cause a high rev

ok, I took back off the carbs, removed all the reed cage/intake bolts, applied thread locker, and installed. I still getting the instant rev up when the engine starts up . So I guess I will make a block off kit to pressure test the whole engine to see if it is ok.

    Yup Yup Air Leak.

An engine cannot run without air- when you open the throttle plates you let in air THEN the carbs feed fuel.

You have to have an air leak for the engine to rev like that. If the throttle plates are closed, there is not enough air available to let the engine run that fast.

My 2 cents--let us know how this works out.

Where did you install the restrictor? In the return line, right?

Make sure all hose clamps are tight.

Make sure all hoses are routed properly.

Have you checked the in line filters and water sperator for clogs?

Have you checked the fuel lines inside the tank if you have them?

Make sure no hoses are kinked.

Are your carb settings adjusted properly?

    Did you clean/inspect the petcock?
