    Ignition update kit

Can anyone tell me more about part# 4060128 which is listed as the ignition update for a 96 sl900?

Does this come with the stator and the CDI or just the stator?

Price is listed at $357.73. I would assume its just the stator.

Anyone have an update kit they want to bring and sell at the get together?

4060128 is the part number for the original 1996-1997 stator, not the updated ignition.

    Polaris Domestic (red) engine

The ignition update kit for the 1996-1998 SL900 is 2873091. It contains a new CDI 4010447 and new Stator 4010403.

You can not mix the original and updated ignition CDI+stator. Old with old, new with new.

You would re-use the existing ignition coils and spark plug wires.

    PartsPitStop lists 2873091 for $286

Well worldofpowersports list the part as "ignition update" then once you add it to the cart it displays the 4060128 part number...

Bottom line I just wanted to make sure the update came with all necessary parts. As long as it does we will probably order with the correct part number unless anyone has a used one they can bring to the get together.

I find it works better to order the Update Kits by part number.

Sometimes the by-model look-up on the parts vendor sites provide incorrect part numbers.

When checking part numbers, I use the Polaris Industries online Parts reference.

I hear ya, and I use the Polaris Parts reference site as well, but even there I don't see the actual part number you speak of under the 96 SL900.

I would think the actual Polaris parts website would indicate the correct part number even under specific model look up wouldn't it??

The Polaris web site shows the original part numbers for each model, and in some cases, the substitute or supersede part number.

What it does not show are update kits, options, accessories, and the like.

We should have an extra Update kit with us. Not sure on what part# but it's for a 1050 and I believe it will also work for the 900

Edit: looking at the diagram posted above, it should what you need.
