My buddy's 1st ride on his new FZR - Bummer!

A friend of mine that I have been riding with for 15 years just put his new FZR in the water (Lake Pleasant, Arizona) for his first ride. Mind you, I've had mine for 3 weeks now and he's been hearing me talk about it this whole time. So, he dropped it in the water, got on it and started it up. The engine started, then he gave it some throttle and NOTHING. The engine revved upon throttle but the ski did absolutely nothing, did not move! It revved but did not move. Thankfully, he was going riding with the dealer with whom he purchased the ski. 0 hours on the ski and it doesn't work. At least the dealer couldn't say that my buddy did something to screw it up. He did say something about the engine light coming on and beeping and that there was no water coming out the left side of the ski (you know, the water exit thingamabob)
The dealer had no idea what was wrong. He will find out on Tuesday what the problem is.
Can you imagine? All ready to go on your first ride and WHAMO, your brand new ski is already messed up. What a drag!
The bigger drag is that we are leaving this weekend for Lake havasu for a 4 day boys trip .

That Sucks The dealer should give him a new ski. He was there. Saw what happened. Your friend should have no down time.

    Hope he makes out ok

Your close..........Impeller wasn't torqued down properly at the factory, ski was then reved up on the trailer. the sudden deceleration spun the impeller back off the shaft. the impeller is now probably jambed in the transom plate.
It happened to me also, ended up swopping the ski out for another.

That's what I thought. And my buddy said he never even started the ski until he got it in the water, so, HE didn't do it.... which means the dealer did it. If thats what it really turns out to be.....
    Oh boy!
