    Aftermarket Flame Arrestors

I want to know if all of the "pod" style arrestors are the same. Carb specs seem to be pretty much the same. Is there one brand that is of higher build quality or does it matter? Prok, Fly, R&D, which ones to get, cost, and from where? Thanks

There all good. Make sure you have a carb brace to go along with them.

    Wrong. That is completely innaccurate.

Fly's or Proks make the most HP.

Get the Fly's from PPG, they sell the rejets too. And...no carb braces needed.

That's funny. I hear both sides from other people also. I have been told that you don't need braces on the 785, others say that you do. I have been told that they are all the same, others say Flys are best. Most carb tuners use the same pop off and jetting regardless of the brand. That would make me think that they flow about the same.

Well, I've run K&N, R&D, Jetinetics, Worx, and Fly's. Ask those guys how many different ones they have tested, and what they are currently using. I can guarantee you they have only run what they have, and are convincing themselves there are no differences to justify having bought the wrong one...lol

Pop-off is relative to what pipe you are using too. I run a lower pop-off than most, 2.0 n&s with 65 gram springs on my 96. Rossier pipe, Novi 42 carbs, and Fly's.

Just a FYI...K&N and R&D are a one-piece-for-both-carbs flame arrestor. These are the ones that need bracing (included with the arrestor), because of their weight.

Fly's and Proks make the most HP because they have a cone that tapers to a point, inside the arrestor. This allows the air to swirl/turn when entering, and allows more air to enter, thus makng more HP. The Jetinetics has this cone too, although it is adjustable (height-wise) it is too thick and is not as good as the Fly's.

You want my opinion then you insult me?

    I'm probably older than you.

Buy a set of Fly's, and swap the OPs and see which ones run better. Then report back on here. Because...for the first time...you will have done real world comparing yourself.

In order to notice an improvement in Flys over others, would you have to rejet or change the HS/LS screw settings? I would think some type of adjustment would be needed if they in fact allow more air to enter the engine.
