Thread: STItaxi's FZS

Now that I have my FZS, I'm putting one of these project threads up.
Going to use this as motivation to actually document what I'm doing with my ski and take a few pictures here and there.
I'm going to try to stay reasonably budget-conscious with my ski so there won't be any ECU swapping for the time being.
My speed goal is 75ish for now, and I'd also like to improve handling and hole shot.
First impression is pretty positive - while this ski is much larger than my GPR, it really does turn and jump like it
was much smaller. There seems to be a light vibration around 4k RPMs, but I was unable to find anything in the
pump. I'll pull the pump if I have to re-align the transom plate so hopefully I'll locate the source of that. The
back end of the ski seems to slide a bit more in the turns, but hopefully a set of aftermarket sponsons will
cure this. Took it through some 2-foot wind-blow chop out in the Long Island Sound today and it handled
it pretty well. Seems like it tends to spray more water in my face than the GPR did, but that might also be
because I was able to ride much faster.
Max stock speed was 65.6 mph. It potentially had a bit more in it, but my 'test track' today was rather short,
and I was also a little nervous about getting bucked off with the stock grate. R&D grate and PPK has
already been ordered from the GH store
Here she is with 0.6 hours.

Congrats on Owning the FZS. I loked at one today at a Long Island dealer, but with a trailer he wanted 13500 out the door. How much was yours in CT?

Def. get the Riva intake....made it get up and go...with in seconds you are at top speed. You will have more down low power too....like when doin donuts u can go faster because u are spinnin the prop more. And to me it seemed like it plained out faster. Def. get it.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions guys!
Definitely will be getting an air intake shortly, and already have the manifold ribbon removal ring on the way.
I want to do the mods one at a time unlike the GPR where I threw twenty different parts together and then spent 6 months tuning it
Update from today's progress shortly...
