600 RPM and 5 mph Loss?
OK, I need some feedback please.
Is it possible that I lose 600 RPM's and almost 5 mph due to heat? The water temp was 90 and outside was 100. Today, I was only turning 7700 RPM's and a top speed of 64 mph? I guess this is a little strange because prior to moving the air intake to the front storage area and the PPG Power Pipe, I was @ 68.8 and 8350 RPM's in much cooler temps. I would figure the air intake to the front would have compensated some for the heat. So, basically, my question is, with the addition of the Power Pipe, the air intake to the front, and tremendous heat, could this in fact still have a killer effect like I am experiencing?

yes its possible, heat kills the performance but the worst think is(HUMIDITY)that will hurt the ski worse than heat and i bet it was up 2 on the day you had the problem.

Also, could the 158 degree thermostat help in this problem??

The cooler thermostat will definately help in heat fade, but I think you have other issues other than heat.
How does your wear ring look?

I forgot to mention that, the 8350 @68.8 was with the POS plastic one. I never GPS'd with the S/S one from Bruce, so that was another mod I had done after my good numbers.

I never thought of this possibility, but, would a toasted clutch lead to this, or are the RPM's and speed still to high for that to be the cause on an 04 GTX SC??

Red is you power pipe rap with some type of heat rap? Rap it up that will help with some of the heat problems.

Nope, haven't tried that yet. What bugs me is the amount of loss and not knowing if it is only heat related. Doesn't make sense. If that much of a loss is due to heat, I can accept that. It just seems to freaky that when I added the S/S wear ring, power pipe, and moved the air intake to the front, how the hell can the temps take me down that much? Like I said, I was turning 8350 when the temp was in the 80's. That is a drastic drop. My air intake to the front should have combatted the heat to an extent.

Has any one seen a power drop going from changing to a SS wear ring? or a gain in MPH / RPM ? any back to backs with no other mods

I don't believe anyone would see an improvement in the S/S wear ring unless the plastic one was pretty trashed prior to that. If that were the case, even a new plastic one would have shown positive results. The purpose of the S/S is to eliminate the constant changing of the plasitic one. I sure would hate to think that a $300 investment was bringing my numbers down..
