How many hours can one expect from a RXP?

Just curious how many hours you can get out of a well taken care of RXP? I am just passing the 100 mark. Whats the most you have heard of with out any major issues? Thanks.

I had 275 on mine and traded for an X, no problems. It will depend to some degree how hard you ride it, and the maintenance you perform. Like a car, oil and filter, etc. It's a 4 stroke, should run a long time, like a car. As long as you aren't running high rpm's all the time, then, like a car it will need a rebuild sooner.

There was a guy on here last year that posted that he had like a 1000 hours on his 4 tech engine but it wasn't in a RXP! Like said you have to take care of anything to make it last

I think it depends on your year and luck - have an '04 RXP, all stock and well cared for. I don't race and rarely run wot - and it just dropped an exhaust valve and totaled the engine at ~50 hours.

That's really got to piss you off.

I see Seadoo ad's on the TV all the time. I laugh my ass off when they say they are built to last 10 years.

BRP needs a give their head a shake.

Its like a car warranty 10 years or 100 miles - which ever comes first...

I totally agree. BRP has a fair number of product problems and it's often just "luck" which determines how long your ski will last.

My '06 RXP experienced a major engine failure at 140 hours resulting in a 20 mile tow back to the launch. I didn't have the time or the tools to complete the repairs and sold the ski for a $3,500 loss.

That ski was well maintained and lived an easy life - over half the hours were accumulated just cruising around the lake at 40 - 50 MPH. The "root cause" of the failure was a loose bolt from the oil pump assembly that backed out and got sucked into the oil pump.

Thanks to this forum I learned that this has happened to other owners. It may not be a common problem, but you can add it to the list of problems that can destroy your ski and leave you stranded.
