Need help with a 1996 polaris SLX 780

I have a 1996 polaris SLX 780 and it will not get full throttle, it will only go 24 MPH at like 4000 rpm. I have cleaned all the fuel filters including the three that are located in the carbs.

    Welcome to the Hulk Clint.

Is the MFD flashing a red light?

Clint, this is only a test. Pull the cdis grey wire from the board, and give it a go.

definetly sounds like a limp mode issue . However I have been going thru a simular issue with my 1050 and after rebuilding the carbs found that it was something simple , the secondary jets where pluged , sprayed some wd40 thru them and now I am back up to speed. Good luck !!!

I pulled the grey wire and it did not change at all. How do I get to the secondary jets?

Also on a nother note I have a 1997 SLTX 1050 will that motor fit in a 1996 SLT 780? They look the same.

Jets are under the kidney shaped block inside the carbs.

1050 will not fit into a 780 hull easily. Will require alot of work.

Things like motor mounts, electrical, and exhaust routing will all need to be addressed.

Cheaper to find a 1050 hull for sale.
