    Question Enlarging J-Pipe holes

Anyone done this? I`m committed to stock ecu for now. Rive ecu would be my only option if I wasn`t. I have taken out my spark arestor screens and want to make the stock intercooler more effecient. Will this help me? I run NO thermostat.

I am not sure if it really did anything, but I have mine opened up two bit sizes and I "think" it is helping. But I need to test more.

    J-pipe Holes

    Hi Hoss,

NEW new member from Australia "Down Under" been meaning to join for months.

We had problems when we modified the water box with overheating!
Drilled the J-PIPE holes 2 sizes bigger and made sure the clamps on the Flex joint between the Water box and J-PIPE were instaled correctly.
If the Clamp is to low on the J-PIPE it will restrict the flow.

    For us problem solved.......

Rxp performance: I have done the exact same thing as you. Double-checked to make sure 3 holes are not blocked by the coupler. Increased the size of the holes by 2 drill sizes and I even widened out the yellow pump washer by 3 bit sizes. Still - hi-temp @ wot only. Any other thoughts/tricks.

And yes the i/c and all lines are absolutely clear and not pinched in any way.

    Thx,
    Brendan

    Welcome aboard by the way!

    Hi Brendan,

Have you gutted the Water box?

If your running a rear exhaust kit like Riva or others try pinching the line that feeds the rear of the exhaust pipe just before the silicone joiner and see if that helps by flowing a little extra water through the box.

Have you got a hose fitting connector attached to the pump for washing out the intercooler?

Rxp Per: Lol...I have been running with the rear water line capped off for a while. I was running a gutted waterbox, but it just cracked. I have a stock one in there for now until my RR waterbox arrives. I run the Riva thru-hull with a PPG pipe instead of the plastic crap.

Also, I do NOT leave the hose (flush) adapter in the flush tube.
I also changed out my temp sensor as well.

I'm a little nervous about relocating my temp sensor to another spot.

Im not sure of your plumbing set up but we had a guy who removed the adaptor in the flush tube and the box kept overheating.
He replaced the adaptor and it allows more water to enter the Water Box

Water from the J-Pipe was escaping through the non restricted flush tube when running the ski in normal water operation.

It all depends how your plumbing set up is!

Very, very interesting. I never left it in, but I could see how it might let water out. I know that in the past I had a bad wire harness which connected to the hi-temp sensor. Somehow, I don't think it's the problem now though, as the sensor would continually go off.

I'll let you know how it goes. Thx. Any other ideas?

    Brendan
