    Intake grate question

I've been riding my first pwc on the bay for a few days now and everything is working great except for the seaweed clogging the intake grate. It seems every 15 minutes I have to stop and clean it out--there are dozens of other pwc's out there and it seems like I'm the only one having the problem as much as I am. Would a different intake grate help or is it something I just have to deal with? It's a 92 seadoo xp all stock.

Those XP grate fill up quick with grass and crap. I have the 95 XP and I filed downed the grates on it to sharp edges and it seems to cut up the grass now and not get clogged up as quick. Most of the aftermarket grates I have tried get clogged up just as quick as the stock ones. Don't know if anyone else has tried this.

Any aftermarket grate is going to grab more weeds than the stocker, because they are designed to improve hookup by shoveling in more water.

They others are sucking it up just as bad.

Thats what I thought the answer would be--guess I just have to stay out of the bay the day after a storm! Thanks for the replies.
