    future gp1300r buyer

I am very interested in a 07 gp and was wondering what your experiences with the ski are? I was worried about reliability with the 2-stroke and how is fuel consumption compared to other high performance skis? What kind of power do these skis have, (I have only ridden a vx so you can compare to that). If there are any bad reviews, i might just listen to my wallet and get a vx deluxe.

It's a great ski; night and day difference in performance over the VX. With that added performance comes fuel efficiency loss. My guess would be about 30% or more consumption. The other issue you will be faced with is some of the must do reliability/safety mods. Cat-con, intake grate, and pump tunnel reinforcement are what first comes to mind.
I don't think there are many performance skis that do not need at least one or 2 reliability/safety mods so don't just think it is the GPR.
Ride one if you can but do not over look the other brands too. Kawi 15F is a very reliable and quick ski that will give you performance, good fuel economy, and overall trouble free riding.
    Good luck.

i found a 2007 model with 23hrs on ebay that i might be able to get for around 5 grand. might bid up to 5500, idk though. Does this sound like a good deal to you? Also what are the must do safety mods within my first couple rides? I've herd the intake grate and tunnel mod is only necessary once mods are done?

Be careful buying on e-bay. That sounds like a real good deal and it may be ok, or it could be someone else's problem that they are trying to pawn off on someone else.

The most important safety mod is the grate, must do. 2nd mod is a reliability issue with the pump tunnel. Next reliability mod is the cat-converter replacement with the d-plate.
I would only do one or 2 rides with the stock grate but just be careful and don't let off the throttle to quickly, just ease off of it. As for the pump tunnel, I would not worry too much until you started doing mods that will give you more speed. As for the cat con, it probably will be ok for a while but do not wait too long.
I love the black boats, but I love the powervalve motors that were in the 03 and 04 boats.

I figured buying a 2007 model ski with just 23 hours would be a pretty safe bet, specially if i can get it for less than 5 and a half grand. Or I can get a new left over 07 model in the crate at my local dealer for 7800. Which do you think would be the best deal? I was hoping the money i would save by going used could be put into mods.
