    How do I split a 4tec case

    I have everything off all the bolts, oil pump, water pump, magneto cover etc.
    I don't see any where to put the screwdriver to spread them a part.

    turn the cylinders down on the bench and then tap up to remove the bottom

    Just had the same problem last week - another post helped me out - basically start by flipping it over so the pistons are facing down.

    Once you are sure all the bolts are out, take a rubber mallet to it. Don't be too gentile, the thing is actually glued together pretty well. I tapped around the edges a few times and then found a spot on the front of the case where the top stuck out a bit. After a few good swings it finally came apart.

    +1 there are 2 tabs on case that you can hot with mallet to break seal. just be sure is upside down as bottom case is holding crank and counter balance shaft in place.
