    HULL in really bad shape

Hey it's been a while since i've been on here, my 93 sl 650 project has been on hold due to no time and no funds, but i'm tring to get back on track with it. Now someone has done some previous repairs on my hull, but used fiberglass than BONDO overtop, now i know i have o get rid of all tha bondo as it absorbs moisture, but what do i use to smooth out the rest of the hull? what do i use as a final finish?, can i just roll on some gelcoat or spray bomb?thanks in advance

    Darryl

i did a search already but the other ones i found were only before and after threads, not really any details and most are seadoo's which are made completely different. I could really use some extra knowledge on this if any one has done a repair like this one. especially someone who has done a repair on this type of hull, i'm not gonna replace the hull just want to try to reinforce, and then paint afterwards or gelcoat.

The light shining through the bottom of the hull material, is that the bondo? If you ground out all the bondo, would you have large holes? If so, I'm kinda thinking the hull is not worth repair.
Epoxy resin is not cheap. About $100 a gal not including the hardener or filler.

Darryl, there are sl hulls popping up on ebay all the time. I don't know where you live but there are a few for sell now.

put a local wanted ad, you might get one for free as most places won't take them for scrap unless you pay to get rid of it. Someone may have toasted an engine and lost interest

where you see the light through the hull is where the bondo is, but there is fiberglass underneath that, which is probably not to thick(can see daylight through it. i have used a grinder to quickly remove a bunch of bondo off the hull and have found fiberglass beneath, this is all since i took these pics. the problem is i'm in northern ontario and these ski's in half decent shape are few and far between and are being posted for way more than they're worth, not selling and not negotiable. i found one that was just a body for $500 that was beat worse than mine. so for the hassle i was thinking of fixing this one, maybe put some tiiger hair fiberglass inside to help reinforce from the inside(depending on what is recommended to me). Than fiberglass mat on the outside overtop of existing repair, once again waiting to see what the guys on here think.
