check your coolant hoses on the thermo, you may have the hose in the wrong locations

If your coolant is bubbling over, it may certainly be the head gasket. Is the ski modded? or stock?

Did you bleed the air out of the coolant lines which lead to the rideplate before tightening up the coolant screw at the base of the rideplate? Air pockets will cause this. Just thinking out loud here.

How much time do you have on the Riva thermo? They sometimes stick. Might be defective. Feel the coolant line running from the top of the head (at the very rear) that leads down to the themostat. Make sure it isn't always rock hard. If so, you could have thermostat problems.

Only Three problems it could be.

    1. Blown Head Gasket.
    2. You reversed the Oil Cooler lines when installing the Thermostat.
    3. The riva thermo is sticking.

mine was a blown head gasket and my buddy had a sticking riva thermo
