    2004 arx1200t2 Honda problems

My boss has a 2004 arx1200t2 Honda. It starts OK, but runs horrible. It will only rev to 3000 rpms, then it just stays there. Occasionally it will rev higher, but this is rare and only after opening and closing the throttle repeatedly for minutes on end.

Any ideas what could cause this ski to hang at 3000 revs and go no higher?

Pull the plugs first ... if any look oily, replace them. The rear plug in particular often fouls out due to oil in the intake from PCV system.

Plugs did look inconsistent from one to the other. Should I stick with the expnsive stock plugs or is there a cheaper alternative?

    Plugs

There is no alternative plugs, if you go to places like Advance Auto Parts you can save some money verus going to the dealer. Also check the guage panel and make sure that the limit mode is not present on the panel. After a plug change next steps will be looking at the turbo and wastegate solenoid, and actuator. Thanks for the places to look. I will be out there this weekend. I'll post my findings.

If the hose to the map sensor is cracked and leaking it will do that.

Will it rev higher on the trailer than in the water under load?

    Easiest things to do first:
    1. Replace plugs
    2. Change oil
    3. Remove gas if it is old.

If the above 3 things do nothing do Nitro's WGS test. Search for this on the forum.

After that I would see if the turbo is stuck. Remove the air box and see if you can freely spin the air inlet turbine within the turbo. If that is ok you need to test the wastegate acutator with a pump.
