Blew an outlet pipe on my GP...
Hey guys my outlet pipe blew on my 98 GP1200 as I was riding the other day. Made my engine smoke like crazy and smell like rotten eggs lol. Anyone know why this would happen? I removed the water lock comp and inspected that and the hose for seaweed etc and didn't see anything in it. Also if anyone has an extra outlet pipe laying around for a 97-99 GP1200 I'll buy it off you, let me know.

Is this the aluminum piece or the rubber hose?

the rubber hose, has it looks like someone jabbed a knife into it and made a 3 inch incision.

This can happen from overheating, due to lack of water going to the waterbox. I would check all the water passages for obstructions, so you don't blow the next one.

Ok will do, I checked already all the parts in the back of the hull and can't find anything. Anywhere else I should be looking?

You need to pull the inner pipe from the main pipe body and clean out all the water outlets inside the pipe. Sand and small rocks clog these and no water cools the exhaust outlet. Result is a blown rubber pipe!
