1999 Speedster help
I have a buddy's 1999 speedster that I am working on for him. It is very hard to start and won't hardly idle at all. If you can manage to get it started and in gear before it dies it runs great. Seems to run around 55 or so.
Any suggestions on where to start? I'm going to drain out all the fuel and start with fresh to eliminate the possibility of water in there. The next would be to try a little sea foam or carb cleaner to see if that can clean up the idle.
I'm usually a jet ski guy and recently retired my ole two-smoker. But I still know the basics. Any ideas or tricks? Maybe this is a known issue with the 1999 Speedsters; no idea.

there are screens in the carbs. you need to pull the carbs and split them to take out the filter screen.

55 IS where that boat should be running. I have a 98 Speedster and it runs around 55.
Inside each carb there is a little filter. You need to take the carbs apart, and inpect them. If they are all gummed up and clogged from old fuel, you need to either replace them or blast them out with carb cleaner.

OK. I will inspect the carbs and try to post pics if I find anything.
