    99 pro 785 rebuld

Hey all, Im starting the pro engine rebuild and wanted to start a thread to document the progress. I am going to post pics and info on the whole job. I pulled he head tonight and what I found was not pretty. There is metal transfer on the head dome and it might be fixable. It appears that the head gasket which is brand new was leaking. There is wetness on the head where there should be no wetness. (Im guessing the wetness is oil and fuel) The Nicisil plating on the PTO is thrashed up pretty bad. Hopefully I can have it renicisiled. Im for sure im in need of std. pistons and lower end probably needs checked out.

    pro 785

Just sent a PM to Bob and he thinks chopper 901 has the cylinder. I was wondering who I should UPS the jugs to once I get my parts. I need someone to scope them out with the new pistons to see if I need to replate the cylinders.

Sorry to hear about this misfortune. At least you got A good day of riding in on Saturday, Just enough to get you HOOKED on the "Pro785" Bug!! I am glad I got to ride it before this happened. Anyhow, I will be following this thread along with many others (I am sure) so dont give up, and be sure to take many pics.. This Ski was put together overnight with everybodys help, and you were there helping too so taking it apart should be Gravy!! You know where to go to get any parts you may need.

    Later....RiZ

Not to bad. I know I fattend up the highs 1/2. PTO slightly lean. CTR Lean MAG slightly Lean. I think the problem happened from using pistons that were not in the best shape(heat) or you snagged a ring. It made the weekend with a smile. Next step fresh pistons and rings and one cylinder. Let her rip. Give you low screws 1/2 turn out and the highs another 1/4 out. Call me if you need anything. What oil and mix ratio were you running?
