    For your info

Had an expert look at my engine today, along with several others that had similar problems like mine. Conclusion, EACH AND EVERY ONE of the engines with failed valves gave out on the 3rd cylinder. 5 motors in total and they all gave out on the 3rd cylinder. So what caused this, bad fuel rail design causing engine to run lean and well it pretty much got so hot that the valves started to warp. My engine and all others like it were running lean. He also concluded that the riva cold air intake was DEFINATELY the cause of this problem. Great design to add power however not enough research to say that "this mod will cause your engine to run lean without our ecu".

Also, none of the springs were stretched and retainers were all fine, it was simply a matter of soo much heat that the valves basically started to melt. Damn sodium filled junk. 5 engines on a little island like this is too much for this to be a coinsidence IMHO.

Interesting,,,but it can`t be from the intake tube but rather the intake manifold. I`ve always thought it to be a poor design for even distribution.

What problems were you seeing that made you get the engine looked at? Aslo are you running a stock IC or an aftermarket?

Never heard of an air intake causing so many problems....

So by getting more air into the cylinders (From a bigger intake) leans out the mixture too far making it lean?

I think I will keep my restrictive intake then..........

    Which one?

I'm trying to deside between the Rotax and the Riva intercooler, but can't a really good mechanic balance the set up so there are less chances of problem on either intercooler?

Brian (bttek) did extensive testing of the Rotax and Riva intercoolers. Basically, he found that the Riva provided a little better performance, but the Rotax did a better job of cooling.
